About Indian Point Film
Documentary and independent cinema — the films, the people who make them, and the craft behind them.
Indian Point Film began as the home of a single documentary and grew into an independent magazine about non-fiction and independent cinema. We cover the films worth your time, where to watch them, the gear and software that make them, and the festivals, funding and distribution that get them seen.
The documentary that started it
Indian Point (2015), directed by Ivy Meeropol, is a documentary about the Indian Point nuclear power plant on the Hudson River, just upstream from New York City — a film about energy, risk and the communities living in the shadow of an aging reactor. You can still read about the film and find out where to watch it on our the film page.
What we do
We write for people who love documentaries and for the filmmakers who make them. Our reviews and essays take the form seriously; our gear and software guides are practical and budget-aware; our festival and funding coverage is built from how the industry actually works — deadlines, grants, deals and the legal fine print.
Our approach
We write for readers, not algorithms. We are transparent about affiliate links, we never recommend something we wouldn't suggest to a colleague, and where we cite prices, deadlines or rules we point to official sources so you can verify before you act.
